Tesamorelin 3 mg/mL – 5 mL Vial is a compounded peptide formulation of a growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH) analog designed to stimulate endogenous growth hormone (GH) production. By mimicking natural GHRH, tesamorelin activates receptors in the anterior pituitary, increasing pulsatile GH release and subsequently elevating insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels.
At a concentration of 3 mg/mL in a 5 mL vial, the total content is 15 mg of tesamorelin, typically supplied as a sterile solution or for reconstitution prior to subcutaneous injection. This formulation allows for consistent dosing in research or controlled clinical protocols.
Tesamorelin is FDA-approved under Egrifta for reducing visceral adipose tissue in HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Its mechanism promotes lipolysis, improved body composition, and metabolic regulation, particularly targeting abdominal fat. Compared to exogenous GH therapy, tesamorelin supports a more physiologic GH release pattern, which may reduce the risk of excessive GH exposure.
Clinical studies demonstrate significant reductions in visceral fat and improvements in metabolic parameters:
